Reflecting on the year 2020

Happy new year to you! Hooray πŸ™Œ, so we welcomed the year 2021 with a sigh of relief.

Many people couldn’t wait to bid 2020 bye, especially due to the covid-19 pandemic which had rendered many jobless while some people had lost their loved ones

I have a different story though.

I am testifying about this cause in Isaiah 12:4, the Bible tells us,”Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name; make known among the nations what He has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted.”

I got a job in February 2020 just a month before covid-19 was declared a pandemic in my country.This was after three years of baby sitting my nephew.Infact my nephew had just joined baby class for two weeks when the job came knocking.

My nephew and I, 03/02/2020

When people were losing jobs, I started working.There is not a single day that I didn’t go to work in 2020.When the pandemic was raging and there was a lockdown and a curfew, I kept on going to work and the Lord protected me.I don’t remember getting sick or laying down because of sickness.For this I say, Thank you Lord.

My Testimony

At some point,2020 was very gloomy: especially when they said that older people were at a higher risk of contracting covid-19,we had to keep off from being close to our parents, but I didn’t have a choice, I had to meet mine everyday in the evening;When thousands and thousands of people were dying abroad;When we washed and sanitised our hands every moment;When we stopped going to Church or any other social gatherings; When we had to meet online via Zoom despite not having enough bundles or proper internet connection;When our movements were restricted because of curfews and lockdowns;When we were not sure of getting enough food supplies;When we were told to drink hot concoction of lemons, ginger and garlic, but the lemons were too expensive in the market.By the way,did you take this drink in 2020?

Psalms 124 comes to mind.

Psalm 124

1.β€œIf it had not been the Lord who was on our side,” Let Israel now sayβ€”

2.β€œIf it had not been the Lord who was on our side, When men rose up against us,

3.Then they would have swallowed us alive, When their wrath was kindled against us;

4.Then the waters would have overwhelmed us, The stream would have gone over our soul;

5.Then the swollen waters Would have gone over our soul.”

6.Blessed be the Lord , Who has not given us as prey to their teeth.

7.Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers; The snare is broken, and we have escaped.

8. Our help is in the name of the Lord , Who made heaven and earth.

I am so grateful to God that I overcame the traps that the enemy laid for me.

When the year was tough and I was in the wilderness, the Lord sent me a raven.

Yes, there’s a lady who has been acting like a raven to me, she has been bringing me some relief just the way Elijah was fed by ravens in the wilderness.

Though 2020 was very hard on some people, on my part I thank God for open doors.

Building Meaningful Relationships,

In Christ,

Stella.
